Are there universal truths in woodturning?

The question below on Bag/Box/Nothing made me think: Is there anything in woodturning that is universally true?

While some people use a bag or a box, it seems universally true that controlling airflow around green wood is a good idea. If it is something that I simply cannot afford to lose, I will double bag and anchorseal it and store it outside because my shop is dry. Doing all of these things always gives me the best chance for success with any wood, at any time of year, and in any storage environment. Most importantly, these things never cause harm.

So, what other things can you think of that are universally true in woodturning?
