I never thought of taking a look at where the tip would be at full extension. I have no doubt that you are dead on accurate in your assessment.

As far as self feeding goes, I am always cognizant of the fact that if it's cutting that well, I am going to jam a shaving and so I clear it often. I keep my compressor hose nearby, and use it to blow out the cut frequently.
