Ron,
Catches will become more non existent over time. The biggest problem I see when people are getting catches is do to set up. As I watch people set up they will grab any blade and extend it out a couple of inches from the turret and line that up on center of the lathe spindle. This is where the trouble starts. On my system when I extend a blade a couple of inches from the turret and measure from the top of the cutting edge to the ways it will measure say 10 inches (make sure banjo is locked). Now extend the same blade in its full extension and take the same measurement and it may measure 9 3/4". Therefore when coring and you're reaching deep into a bowl you will be cutting well below center and get catches. My cure has been to take the largest blade I own (largest radius jumbo set) and extend it through the turret in its full extension. Now line that up on center of the spindle either by using the point on a spur drive or simply the center of a blank. Use a stop collar on the tool post of the turret and it is now set for any blade in the system. I own the Jumbo, standard and mini and it works for all of them. I do quite a bit of coring so I check mine about every six months to make sure the stop collar hasn't slipped and can say to date and a few years it has not.
