Answer to: "Is my compressor toast?"

david
Some of you wanted to know the outcome of my attempt to repair my Sears 5-HP compressor-upright with a 22 gal. tank. Took it to the regional Sears repair service. The complaint was when plugged in, would cough a few times trying to turn over, then the circuit breaker would trip. The evaluation cost me $35, which would have been applied to the cost of the repair. Any repair cost over $100 needs prior authorization. I just got a call that the motor was not repairable, and no replacement parts were available. I left it to them to dispose of. It was a gamble, but at least now I know that it was indeed toast.
