Ron's pieces are just plain a-phreakin-amazing. His "desegmented" pieces border on pure mathematics - and I mean that in a very GOOD way. The technical skills required to make his pieces stretches what's possible. The fact that he can conceive of such pieces, then execute them - so really well - blows me away. My Wild Hare Ideas seem like tinker-toys things while his ideas are more from NASA or Sandia Labs.
Having grown up in the Panama Canal Zone, the leaf cutter ants struck a chord with me. And having done a lot of lost wax casting, albeit at a jewelry scale, I can really appreciate his castings - and patinas. That fact that he has such a command of wood and metal - and uses the combination to create such fascinating pieces is wonderful.
Thank you for pointing me to ron's site. It's definitely a Keeper.
