Thanks for all your insights. I typically work with hardwoods, mesquite mostlyand central Texas walnut, and nearly always end grain. Don't know why I didn't think of "slowing down" a bit and "sharpening up" on the carbide cutters more often....always the simplest that escapes first! Sure do appreciate all the forums help
