I tend to drive my cars to infinity and beyond. I have a eight year old CRV that I still think of as my "NEW" Car. It has been wrecked twice. the last time they totaled it and I bought it back from them and fixed it myself. If that were my car, I would let them total it, collect the money, buy it back for ten percent and have it fixed. The way I see it is if it costs you a couple of grand, it cheaper than buying a replacement, and you know the history of this car and have sentimental attachment to it.
