My son is deep in the hole on snakes. He has had many over the years and paid way too much money for some. They died. The one He sold the other day was a fairly inexpensive one and he sold it at a profit after it had the clutch and the clutch was profitable, but not as much as he and his partner day dreamed about. They thought they would sell quickly for about $10,000 total. It took a year and only netted $6,000 The economy affects most everything.
And you are right about the snakes escaping in the deep south. I'm sure a lot of them were released by people that got tired of feeding a big snake. The bug has not bitten me. I tolerated the hobby when he lived at home but I truly don't understand the fascination.
