Dave, the software update on August 21 was for the forums and the server move. At that time, I also introduced an evaluation version of our new chatroom. Earlier this week, I actually bought and installed the latest version of the new chatroom software, which may have a stricter Java version requirement than the earlier chatroom software did.

Somehow, I am on an automatic notification about Java updates, and I always allow them. If you keep up with Java, you won't have any difficulty with the chats. Try uploading the newest Java now and test if ahead of time. The chatroom is available 24/7.
