I do not like the speed controls on the DVR. It is a nice lathe, has good power/torque, but the ramp up/down controls are not nearly as good as the ones on the 3 phase motors with the converters. If I had never turned on anything else but the DVR, I would think it fine. I also prefer a sliding headstock to the pivoting one. Turned on a PM 3520A for 8 years, had my Robust American Beauty for 3 years.
