I don't have any mini tools as described by Ed.
However what I have done to reduce my traveling tool weight is to use a couple of handles with adaptors for all of my tools. The overwhelming majority of the tools in my traveling tool kit have tool shafts that will fit in either 3/8" or 1/2" adaptors. I have handles with just such adaptors. About the only tools that I don't have unhandled are my parting tools and skews and when I can I plan on buying some unhandled versions of those tools.
Since I am primarily working on small items, e.g. boxes, ornaments, orts bowls etc. I don't need full sized handles to provide a lot of leverage. I seldom have a tool project more than 3 inches over the tool rest. With the shorter 8-9" handles I work with tool in front of me rather than to the side. I also work with both hands and switching hands is much easier and faster with the short handled tools. The adaptors allow me to vary the projection of my tools out of the handles. When I need more leverage I just allow more of the tool to stick out.
Frank Penta introduced me to this concept of working with shorter handled tools and it has been a boon to me as I believe my tool control has improved since switching.
As they say in the disclaimers, your results may vary....
