Lots of interesting ideas.
I think the red color of the wood might go nicely with the grey hue of pewter.
I scored a big load of eucalyptus & found a large resin seam...
now I need to find out how to get it liquified safely when I try that.
I've been turning & sanding 2 manzanita burls over the last few weeks
and your piece looks like it might also be manzanita.
The pieces I have were blackened presumably by wildfire & then found as driftwood.
I was pretty sure that one of them would fly apart
and left it a bit thick on account of voids.
I found a little grown in granite embedded on the underside
so watch & listen for stone within.
Good luck with it.
