Our club demo was on a Nova DVR, which was at very high rpm. The turner was able to turn it off the first time after noticing it was at very high rpm. He started it up again, and tried to slow it down like a conventional variable speed lathe, but the Nova ramps down very slowly. The piece flew off. This might be an older model which doesn't reset to lower speeds, or that function was turned off. Always check the speed first, and turn it on without anything on it at all to make sure the speed is where you want it.
