Subject:
My 5HP fine on a 220, 10ga wire.

Chuck Jones - West TN
I have fairly good, but not the best service to my shop breaker box (several hundred feet of #2 aluminum underground). From there I have 10 gauge wire running more than 50' from the breaker box to the compressor (through a double pole switch) and a 20 amp breaker. Lights barely dim when it kicks in; not as bad as my table saw. The wire gauge is the key. If the breaker isn't tripping it aint a problem. Only problem I have had is, like I said in earlier post, it tripped the breaker on a couple of the single digit mornings we had this winter until I heated the oil with a heat gun.

By the way, I use all sorts of air tools except for spray painting--sand blast cabinet, other kind of sandblaster, die grinder, pneumatic drills, sanders, ratchets, etc.
