Re: What compressor for a shop with people?

Terry Scott
Steve this has been a very expensive journey for me and I still havnt got it right
We have a power supply problem so are only able to run single phase .Be careful when purchasing because compressors (here) are listed as (for example 16cfm ) but in fact this is not the free air at 100psi
I have the biggest motor and compressor I can run on single phase which is 2hp 18cfm 12 of free air a twin head /pot this struggles with a sandblasting cabinet and I am always waiting for catch up
It is quite as I have in my shed 3 metres from the lathe
The worst thing for air use age is a die grinder they require 10 or 11 of free air
I have found power consumption is less if the compressor has an over ride so it runs
continually in waiting mode (special name for it ?) and is not starting up and stopping starting up and stopping
When my compressor comes on the whole house goes bla and lights flicker e.tc
If you can go three phase with a large holding tank this is the way to go.
Talk to Andy Dipetrio he has it sorted
