I have been using them for years. compared to many other options ( I have tried a few!!) they work. Yes they don't always produce a big shaving or sometimes don't remove wood as fast as other options but all round they are 'reliable' and generally more 'controllable' (not nasty catches or clogging). Plus their ability to get into small openings and their ability to hold an edge.
