You can also add a band clamp on either end if you want, but it won't be necessary if you get a tight glue join. Be sure the extra "tails" are pointing away from you, so you don't get hurt as they spin. If you do use clamps, you can turn a recess to hold them down out of the way, but that will require extra length.
