I too have become an Apple fan, I ditched my PC Dell 3 years ago for a Macbook Pro and also an IMac for Dana, never going back again!

It will be more as a school tool than a main computer, so I think that it will be fine. Her age seems to be able to do so much on a smart phone, the IPad to me is like a smarter smart tool, and for the aging visually needy like myself.

I'm still a person who thinks a LT is what she needs, she is telling me otherwise... I am okay if I am wrong, I am learning!
