scare me too, always in the forest I walk looking up and spotting them, also when felling a tree I wear a hard hat and look up frequently. I don't have a tractor, so I choose the weaker tree where the broken tree is leaning, in a day with no wind, lean a ladder and tie a rope as high as possible, then with as long a rope as practical, and using a chain choker around the base of a good size tree, I rig a four part block and tackle in tandem with a come along, put a strain with the tackle and use the come along as a jigger, that puts an enormous strain, many times it moves the weak tree enough to let the broken piece slide down, on occasion I have broken the tree. If I did not succeed taking it down, I leave it there and eventually a big wind will finish the job.
