A Chuck Gripping Question () robo hippy
I would want to get another set of jaws for the chuck so they are closer to 3 inches. Some chuck jaws have serrated edges, which will bite into the wood. Never used them. I do use dove tailed jaws as they have a mechanical advantage over straight jaws. Another point to consider is how long is the cylinder. If it is 3 to maybe 6 inches, you might be able to get away with a smaller tenon. If it is longer, you want a bigger tenon, and a steady rest.
