Re: Russ / one more article

Before his surgery, I'd asked Russ to write a regular column for AW. He was able to send a short article, which will appear in the February issue. I always considered that he would be back, writing and contributing, so we corresponded with that in mind. Writing the article helped him focus on something other than his health problems and upcoming surgery, and he wrote that to me several times.

I also heard from a friend of Russ' a few days ago that Russ is not doing well and most likely will not recover. His brain tumor was not the sort that would go away, no matter what the treatment. The tumor must have affected his personality way before surgery, as I remember him being disgruntled in some of his posts on WC. Knowing what Russ is going through reminds me to be gentle with other folks, always. I never really know what's going on in someone else's life.
