But thats ok, she is in no position to limit me with my tool buying.

So the secret is, encourage your wife to spend more on what she wants and she'll not even notice when you buy something.

I buy a saw and maybe two weeks later she might notice it and ask about it and I'll say..."oh this old rusty thing? I've had this forever".
