Need help with a plane *LINK*

>I am building a strick block or miter plane of wood for the fine blade I got from Chris Sholtz at GalootTools. I spent a couple of hours bedding the iron and now need to drill a hole for the iron bar that goes above the blade that captures the wedge.

Strike Block

Question is where along the blade do I position the bar? I am thinking dead center would be proper to provide even pressure along the blade.

Would it be better to be located closer to the mouth?
