The chairs which you saw were fine enough that you asked about them. That shows high skill. So this was a high-skill cabinetmaker. Therefore. I think there would be state or local historical interest if the chest is (a) complete, as-found, not-picked-through-and-high-graded; (b) has some age--Civil War era or previous would be more interesting than 1890, I would think; and (c) there is enough known about the man--life dates, where he worked, detailed photos of what he made--sufficient to get the attention of a NY historical society.

You're gonna maintain two farms?? Buying when the price is right is good.
