>A fox wedge doesn't require the taper feature mentioned here and above. You use a very short, and relatively thin wedge, and the top of the leg gets mashed into the sides of the hole. Fibers get compressed, and it makes a very tight joint.
greg -who prefers a through tenon, tapered and wedged from the top.
