But, for full-on sharpening, metate I'll send them back to Japan, via Hida Tools, and the cost can vary depending on what you want. $30 and above. See my reply to Wiley above.
The steel is hard on these so they don't require sharpening very often. On my most often used saws I would say every two years I'll send them out. If I'm cutting hardwoods it could be sooner. I have one saw with a label "2/02" on it meaning it was last sharpened in Feb 2002. Still cuts well.
There is a guy in the US named Mark Grable that will do it. I haven't used him in years, but I think he still charges around $30.
