>For saws, I use a rack similar to yours but it is about 3 inches deep, oversized but still snug kerfs are cut into this board and the saws are slotted in. You can get at least twice the number of saw, and the saws pull straight out and there isn't any resistence or mechanical sounds as with magenets. One would think the finger which hold the saws, and are crossgrain would snap off, but over the years no problems of any kind.
I use tapered holes for my chisels. Sooner or later one will fall off the pegs, which is pretty much ok if you have wooden floors, but I don't. To make the holes I drill holes through some wood, then I ream those with a metal reamer that LV sells. Chisels are held at the ferrule, and a little lift will remove them directly to the front. You can also store a lot of chisels this way, though one has to be carefull not to crowd them overly obove the handles.
I use quite a few of the racks you have your chisels on, but for the most part I use them for rarely used chisels and stuff like, ones I made myself (easily restored by me), and files.
The picture shows about a third of my chisels and there is a whole other rack of my saws. I just like this shot because it shows all the different styles of rack I use.
