I've been a little sloppy at times, leaving wood on the ground, and found some nests when I cleaned it up. When we finished the recent insulate-the-floor project, I spent a day cleaning out the accumulated, um, stuff (almost all of it roots or things that predated my responsibility for the house) in the crawl space, hoping to discourage termites there.
