Hand Tools Archive 2009

>Hi Wilbur--
I might have done the unthinkable, but for my everyday (replaceable blade) saws I just drilled a small hole in my saw handles and hung them from a finish nail. It's real simple and I can't see the harm. Now my handmade saws...I keep them protected in a canvas holder. Which brings up an interesting question: are these saws meant to be hung in order to keep them in proper tension or is it OK to keep them stored in the canvas holder?
BTW, I remember Wiley showing photos of his tool storage area and he had a neat saw holder where the saw blade was just in a kerf cut in a 1x board. The handle keeps it resting on the holder. You might check the archives or maybe Wiley will chime in.
The shop is looking good and like everyone said, tool holders seem to always be a work-in-progress. That's why keeping it simple on wooden boards like you used seems to work best.
Take care,
Kevin
