Evaporust DOES leave the surface a bit "gray". But it buffed out quite easily. Also, you need to wash the items off thoroughly after you remmove them to get rid of the "slime" left from the de-rusting process. The big thing is to coat them with 3-in-1 oil after you wire brush them. This really helps to eliminate any "instant rusting" you would see.

BTW, I got my Eavporust from the local Harbor Freigh Store. Check and see if there is one in your neighborhood.
