The thing that makes me a tad reluctant to tweak the abutment sides, or touch up the blade sides, is the fact that this plane used to cut beautifully. Having moved a lot around the country since i suspect that the dai has swollen a bit and thighten its grip on the blade (?) So my fear is that if i remove wood, would it not become too loose down the road?

Mind you as is, it does not cut whatsoever, so I brought it in from the shop and will leave it sit at home for a while to see how it react. Since we are into the heating season (electric here) Im guessing that its humidity level will go down.

So, Im guessing I should wait a bit then proceed lightly with the teaking?

Thanks again for your insight, I'm in new territory here :-)
