My sense of the comparison is closer to Brent than to Mike. Although when I disagree with Mike, that makes me want to go back and reexamine things.

But anyway, if one were thinking about mixing and matching between Nicholson and Auriou, the Auriou grains 13, 14, and 15 are finer than the Nicholson 50, and in my experience the Auriou 9 is coarser than the Nicholson 50 (but see Mike's post, he doesn't think so). IMO, the Auriou 14 grain is an extremely useful mesh, because you can go from it into the file range.

I think part of the problem we're having on comparing the Auriou's and Nicholsons, is that even the coarser Auriou's are smooth-cutting once you get the feel of the tool.
