>Joel, I was writing too fast and overstated the case. I didn't mean to suggest you said that saws weren't needed, only that there was not a need for a lot of them. As you have pointed out here again, sawing was not a gross operation but more a refining step for the work. The need for hand saws seems to have grown in the 19th and 20th centuries. That was intent I got from you. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
