Tradtionaly it is thought it was often shipwrights that made these since they had access to Lignum... Does seem that most I have seen were Razee stlye which were supposed to be favored by shipwrights too....don't know
...If made by a profesional named maker of planes and made out of lignum it would be in my opinon a pretty rare plane and probably pretty desirable, I would snap it up in a second if in that condition and for that price.

....Not to doubt you but look at it good to make sure it is Lignum and not just beech that is darkened...somtimes beech sort of looks like lignum a little if oiled and dirty though of course the lignum is very much more heavy ....Todd
