As a suggestion.....it might be less machining cost to add the hex shank by merely using steel hex stock/rod that is pressed into the body of the tool. Machining a hex shank is quite time consuming. As I mentioned, it takes very little torque to tighten or loosen a split nut. A press fit hex shank into a round hole would be adequate for it not to loosen with normal usage.

As for the split nut.....it would be better to have used a screw set design that doesn't require a special screw driver. I have a flush type design that accepts a regular flat blade screw driver and the end of the male screw is not seen.
