But I will link to a highly useful pice of maths/mechanics from the OLDTOOLS list, way back when.
It tells you the flexibility of a plane.
It is obvious (I hope) that precision beyond the rigidity of an object is pointless.
And this page concludes that a #8 under 10lbs of downforce may well deflect by .020" (circa 1/64").
ACTUAL measured deflections (later in the thread) are around 0.002 - 0.007.
