>There are three camellia oils, Camellia japonica, sinensis and oleifera. The oleifera is used as a cooking oil in some areas of China, so it is available much cheaper. For example, www.republicoftea.com has cold pressed extra virgin tea oil,30 0Z for $24.50.
I suspect it could be had cheaper still, as in some cases olive oil has often been adulterated by adding camellia oil secretly in order make a profit, and still pass most of the testing methods for determining purity.
What I want to know is if cold processed is better or worse for metal preservation? Are sinensis and oleifera good substitutes for japonica?
