Subject:
overzealous waterstone truing

Bob Sobieck
>I seem to have picked up a disturbing habbit, I find I am always truing my water stones. Whenever I put a square or straight edge to them I can always see a glint of light here or there. I true on my bandsaw table top with the drywall abrasive material (120 I think). I envision little nubs left with dusty hands as I zealously true and overtrue. Does anyone have practical advice here? I don't want to waste away as I enjoy my waterstones but dread the though of replacing them at todays prices.

One of my flaws I believe is I use them for too much rough work. I recenty have been trying the adhesive with sandpaper to do rough work.

I use a Norton 220, the rest are King, 800, 1200 and I believe 8000 (big gold one - not sure I ever saw a number).

Counciling appreciated!

Bob
