If I had to distill the basic premise of your post, it would be that no tools, time reading or talking about woodworking, or anthing else can substitute for experience and practice. To wit, to get good at working wood -you have to spend a lot of time working wood.

I would say that your post is keeper and a reality check for those who are just starting out and for those of us who sometimes lose sight of our original goals.
