Tip for the day - Edge trimming planes.Derek Cohen (in Perth, Australia)

This may be old news for most, but yesterday, as I was jointing boards for a wide surface, I had this idea for using the edge trimming planes (mine are the LN set). No, not using them to square up a freshly jointed edge - that is one common use towards which they are put. BUT to use them to create the "gap" for sprung joints. These planes make this very easy to do.
Disclaimer: this works for boards with squared, jointed edges.
