Curiously, of the few English made planes I have, a jack sized no-name Badger, no-name jack and a Mathieson try planes, none of them have a strike button. The two I mentioned above are American made.

Extra data points: a Sciotto Works jointer with a 7/8" button; a Sargent coffin smoother with a strike button on the heel.
