Banned from knife making - rikizai *PIC*David Weaver
So, I was banned from knife making. Long story, but the mrs thinks we'll end up with too many overly sharp knives laying around.
So, yesterday, like a communist bloc resident listening to bluegrass music in secret, I hammered and shaped my first blank out of the rikizai.
I was right about one guess...even though I ground this a bit tin after hammering, you can straighten these knives with hammer taps straight out of the quench. Which is good, because it warped like crazy. Id guess the hand makers leave them a lot better before quench because they have those giant wet wheels to shape them. I don't.
You can just barely see the line where the mild steel meets white 2.
