I don't think white #2 is a lot different from 1095.

I have used 1095 knives for over 40 years. It gives a very fine edge with little sharpening effort. The knives I started using in 1962 were also of a no chrome steel; they may have been 1095 also.

I have four skew chisels of various widths for turning. One I made from a Nicholson 14" mill bastard file in 1981. The steel is nice.
