I think I understand what Warren is talking about, the massive tang of the chisel and the largely ornamental bevel makes this a coarse carpenter's chisel. There's certain beauty to the tapered tang and hexagonal bolster, that if you're going to go to the trouble of hand forging one, one might as well go the whole way instead of just making it look like what you get from a drop forge assembly line. At least we didn't see him use epoxy to secure the handle. Notice that most of the chisels in the picture below don't have a hoop on the top of the handle?
I really like the way David focused on reproducing the bolster and using heat to fit the handles.
I guess it's part of some of the contemporary youtube handcrafter culture, it's somewhat entertainment and pretend educational, but very shallow, it looks like they know what they're doing, it looks shiny and pretty. Oh well, rant over, just some thoughts.
