It should be feasible to attach one of these wheels to a wooden lathe or some speed reduced electric motor assembly.

How about those vintage sandstone wheels that can be found in antique stores? Could it be attached to a motor?

Also, in one of the woodworker Facebook groups someone was making his own very large grinding wheel out of cement. Similar to those old sandstone ones. I haven't seen anything lately, once posts age it's difficult to go back and find them. I don't know how his project went.
