This one is a little different. I believe that if it were used for a while, the remaining particles would be locked in place and it would cut finely.
I'm assuming you use yours with oil? Can you describe what you use yours for and how much you like it?
As you know, a lot of what you get out of a stone is what you make of it. I recall folks trying to squeeze QC into being razor finishers, and they would be fine with classic razor sharpening (keeping the bevel thin), but they won't match something like the purple slate below if working all the way to the edge, and a fair number of trips to the linen and leather would be needed to establish a smoother edge.
The purple slate that John sent to have checked over with this one is a special stone, though, and in its format, I believe it was intended specifically for razors.
