Queer Creek stones are a fine sandstone. They are mined in Ohio, but what we usually call Ohio sandstone is coarser and used for grinding wheels.
I bought my Queer Creek stone in 1983 for $3.50. It was kind of bluish grey or grey with a hint of blue.
