There were a couple gem cutters who did this in the 1980's, and I forget what they called the product now. Mostly they were doing it with cerium oxide for polishing quartz (quartz is a bit tough to polish), but I think they had one with Linde A too. I've got one of the cerium laps, it worked ok but not as well as slurry.
Of course, polishing a steel edge is a completely different problem to solve.
