...these blades are about 12 cents each. This isn't a matter of spending parsimony, it's just to see what happens when you actually hone these. The old glass hones are probably too harsh for them because they feel so soft.

It could also be that they're impulse hardened near the ends and the floppiness is just to make sure they can't break in a poorly made razor.
