Wood ideas for Monticello book pressesTony Wilkins
My wife wants me to build her some bookcases for her homeschool room. We decided on the Monticello stacking book presses.
The bottom box is 4’x18”x13” on the plans. I had thought of using dimensional pine 1x12 but not so sure about that decision. The main advantage of it was not having to glue up long panels. The local lumber yard is advertising sugar pine 1x12 but in number 2 common. I don’t think either BORG would have anything better.
So I’m looking for ideas of what would be good wood to look at using. It doesn’t need to be too fancy since it’s location and use.
